At the BYU 40th Reunion, you can have the opportunity to perform on stage with the current YA's, and/or perform in a special reunion fireside at the LDS Conference Center.

Perform with the current Young Ambassadors in "The New Music Makers"

Question: If we want to perform with the current Young Ambassadors in "The New Music Makers," when will we learn the show material?

Answer:

The MANDATORY rehearsal will be Thursday, February 11, 2010 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the LDS chapel located at 1915 N. Canyon Road, Provo, UT. This rehearsal will be strictly choreography, music must be learned beforehand. Access the sheet music on this page.

Question: When are the performances?

Answer:

1. Thursday, February 11, 2010 - 7:30 p.m.

2. Friday, February 12, 2010 - 7:30 p.m.

3. Saturday, February 13, 2010 - 2 p.m.

4. Saturday, February 13, 2010 - 7:30 p.m. (Note: The 40th Anniversary International Buffet and the Alumni Showcase Concert will be at this time. If you choose to register for those events, you will not be required to perform in "The New Music Makers" at this performance.)

Question: What material will we be performing?

Answer:

YA Alumni will perform the following in the current YA show:

BOTH:

1. "Mr. Music Maker" (Opener)

2. "The Color Purple" (Finale)

UP TO TWO ADDITIONAL ASSIGNED NUMBERS FROM THE FOLLOWING LIST:

* "Do You Hear the People Sing"

* "Footloose"

* "I Got Rhythm"

* "A Chorus Line Audition"

* "Come on Everybody/Can't Help Fallin' in Love"

* "Brotherhood of Man"

* "Saturday in the Park/Sir Duke"

*You will receive an email in January, AFTER you have registered, informing you which numbers you have been assigned to.

Question: What costumes will we wear?

Answer: This question will be answered in the email you receive telling you which numbers you have been assigned to. The costume assignments/arrangement will vary.

Sing in the YA Alumni Fireside to be filmed in the LDS Conference Center Little Theatre

Question: When is the fireside rehearsal and fireside performance?

Answer:

REHEARSALS:

1. Saturday, February 13, 2010. 9 a.m. - Noon at the BYU Conference Center Auditorium.

2. Sunday, February 14, 2010. 2-5 p.m. at the LDS Conference Center Little Theatre in downtown Salt Lake City.

PERFORMANCE: Sunday, February 14, 2010. 7 p.m. LDS Conference Center Little Theatre in downtown Salt Lake City.

Question: How many YA alumni will be permitted to sing in the fireside?

Answer:

Due to limited space on the conference center stage, only the first 300 alumni to register will be able to be on stage and sing in the fireside. All other alumni and family members are welcome and encouraged to attend in the audience. All those who register to sing in the fireside will receive an email confirming their spot in the 300 singers. Register now!

Question: How will we access and learn the fireside music?

Answer:

Rehearsal tracks and sheet music are available here. Fireside music must be memorized since the fireside will be filmed for future broadcast. All singers are expected to learn and memorize the music before the reunion weekend. Please learn the vocal part (SATB) for which you registered as.

Question: Sunday, February 14, will we be responsible for our own lunch between the rehearsal and the fireside performance?

Answer:

No. Premium boxed lunches are available for pre-purchasing. The cost is $9.50 per lunch. Lunches are provided by Apple Spice Junction Deli and are served with a sandwich, pasta salad, potato salad or frog eye salad, with fresh cut veggies and a vegetable dip, bag of chips, and cheesecake. To order a lunch for Sunday, select the lunch option on the online registration page.

Question: Do we need tickets to attend the fireside in the audience?

Answer:

No. The seats are on a first-come first-serve basis. Arrive early for the 7 p.m. fireside at the LDS Conference Center Little Theatre in Salt Lake City, seat yourselves, and enjoy the fireside.
