Other

Aside from being in Young Ambassadors from 1976-1978, In 1979 I was blessed to tour the Western United States with Lex de Azevedo in a play called, "Debbie, Diary of a Mormon Girl". All that I learned in Young Ambassadors totally prepared me for the roll of "Stanford". Of course after leaving BYU, I ended up at Weber State University Ogden, Utah where I received my BA Degree in Communications, with a Minor in Latin American History. After my Degree at Weber State, the reality of being married and being a new Daddy finally started to sink in. I moved back to Lancaster CA in 1985 and have been here since that time. I have continued my schooling, raising my children (and my grandchildren). I work as a Teacher in Special Education working with the Severely Developmentally Delayed students, and have found that to be quite fulfilling. I have managed over the years to participate in a couple of Rock-n-Roll Top 40 Bands. I sang and played rhythm guitar. Presently, I am involved in a show with "It's Only Tuesday Productions" here in Lancaster, CA entitled "Rock Around the Fab Four" Two hours of non-stop Beatle Music-Awesome!!! Additionally, I have done some Community Theater and have quite enjoyed it. I am presently involved in a contemporary christian music group named "GEM" (Gospel Enlightened Music). Our website is: gospelenlightenedmusic.com We realeased of first CD in 2001 entitled "Weavers of Promise". We are presently in the studio working on our second CD entitled, "Signature of Our Souls". If you get a chance to visit our website, I warn you that the years of stress, work, worry, and raising a family have taken their toll on me. I've become the unexpected "Portly Minstrel". Oh isn't life grand with all it's unexpected twists and turns, and vanity. Despite the aging process, my heart is so full of the sweet memories and wonderful magic I was privileged to share with all of you as a member of the Young Ambassadors from 1976-78. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of how special it was to be with all of you. I never realized what a profound influence being a Young Ambassador would be in my life. When I've been sad or down for whatever reason, I just close my eyes and I visualize myself singing and dancing with the members of our group, and a warm sweet feeling overcomes me and washes my blues away. Sadly, I have hesitated attending any of the Young Ambassador Reunions because of my being overweight. Despite the fear I hold in having any of you see me in this condition, please remember, I truly love and miss all of you my dear friends. Let us never forget what a wonderful, sacred blessing we were given all those years ago (Wow, almost 30 years ago) in being Young Ambassadors. I would also like to apologize to each and every member of our 1976-1978 Young Ambassador group for anything I may have said or done unintentionally that was inapproiate. I guess that's about it for
now, but I do have one humble request. I am always writing lyrics, mostly spiritual, but a few occasional pop or country songs work ther way in. Anyway, even though I play guitar, I struggle in trying to arrange the lyrics with music. If there are any YA's out there that can arrange musically but perhaps struggle in writing lyrics I would like to get in touch with you-I could really use your help. Hey, who knows, maybe we could create a new style of spiritually uplifting music. At the request of Ellen Mathias Thomas and Kim Novas' family I was asked to write a song for Kim and I did, but I need help with arranging it. If there is anyone who could help me I would be ever so grateful. Well,
I look forward to renewing my friendships with all of you, and most of all, Randy Boothe, thanks for calling me and and blessing me with this wonderful YA website.
All my love and best regards to all, Sincerely Gregory S. Ferrett (YA 1976-1978)
