Family

Family: I am married to a great guy, John Dance, and we have 5 children. My oldest daughter is finishing her degree to become a lead preschool teacher. My oldest son has been called on a mission to Cape Verde (off the coast of West Africa). My second son is the kicker and cornerback on our high school football team and has a passion for soccer. My third son is a climber (they say he goes up the wall like a spider), a violinist, and a budding movie maker. My last child (second daughter) just started 1st grade and loves to dance, sing, play soccer, and be with friends.

Profession

Profession: I'm a full time mom and a part time music teacher. I have a studio here in my home (Dance Sing and Play) where I teach Baby Music Classes, Toddler Music Classes, Group Music Literacy and Piano classes with the Kodaly approach, and Teen voice lessons. Full time and part time DO add up to more than a whole, and I constantly feel the pull of both roles!!!

I taught Primary Music for about 20 years and ended up doing seminars at music workshops all over the West to help train new Primary Music Directors. That interest is probably what started me into my present studio, teaching so many children's music classes and going for further training in both the Orff and Kodaly methods.

I took voice lessons from an amazing man in Monterey, CA (who once taught Clayne Robinson!...small world) and that launched me into my teen voice studio. (I keep sending voice students to Randy to try out for YA's. One of my students is in the current troupe.) Another highlight was conducting a 200 voice stake youth choir and volunteer orchestra in Steven Kapp Perry's "From Cumorah's Hill" twice in the past 6 years (I remember doing a number from it at a YA reunion a long time ago...!)
